Spring is finally in the air! As the flowers begin to bloom and daylight savings gives us another hour of sun, we are in full swing to begin a fresh new season. Spring cleaning is a great way to start the spring season, especially since we are more energized than ever! But, where do we start? Check out our top tips to deep cleaning your home for rejuvenation and revival. Happy spring cleaning!
How to Deep Clean Your Home
1. Have a plan
Don’t expect to fully deep clean your home in a single day. Depending on the size of your home, you want to have a game plan. It can be easy to get overwhelmed, especially if you have a lot to get done. Take the time to find a schedule you can stick with. Take it room by room, day by day and be sure to reward yourself at the end!
2. Declutter
Decluttering an entire home can be a huge task. But think of it like a cleanse rather than a chore! Not only will you feel better once it’s done, but you’ll definitely be happy to see your house clean and clutter-free! Consider using the “four-box method”– one box for storage, donating/give away, trash, and one for keeping. Be sure to label them to make organizing easier.
3. The kitchen
Take your time cleaning your kitchen. Other than wiping down cabinets and countertops, don’t forget to show some love to your appliances. They work just as hard as you do, so be sure to go through your fridge and pantry, dishwasher, microwave, and everything in between!
4. The bathrooms
When it’s time to tackle the bathrooms, there are a number of little things that can go unnoticed. Along with deep cleaning shower heads, floors, and countertops, be sure to change your shower curtains, throw away any expired medicine or cosmetics, and check to see if your bathroom fan needs replacing.
5. The bedrooms
There’s a lot to consider when it comes to cleaning out bedrooms. From our closets to our beds, take your time with this space! Remember, this is your main living area where you sleep and wind down. Take pride in this area the most for fresh, positive vibes when you enter.
6. Don’t forget the little things
It’s the little things that count the most. Here are a few common items people tend to forget when cleaning!
1. Walls
2. Windows
3. Remotes and entertainment center
4. Keys
5. Pet dishes
6. Purses and bags
7. Mattresses
7. Think about air quality
Other than making sure everything is decluttered and sanitized, the air in the home is what matters most. Take advantage of the warm spring air and let the fresh air in. Be sure to change out your air filters consistently!
8. Outside
Now that warm, beautiful weather is in reach, don’t neglect the outside of your home! If you’re planning on spending time lounging outside your home during the spring and summertime, take the time to tidy it up. Don’t forget to hit your doormats, organize your garage, and declutter your backyard!
9. Think green
Consider being environmentally-conscious when cleaning and decluttering. This means using cleaners with no harsh chemicals, reusing old socks as dusters, and donating old items if it’s still in good condition. It’s a win-win for both your health and the planet!
